The Amsterdam Winter Terrace | 18.50 or 22.50 euros, depending on the weekend | 23 November 2023 to 10 December 2023
What could be better than sitting on a terrace with a drink and snack? Nothing, right? So why actually stop that in the winter? The organizers of the Amsterdam Winter Terrace must have wondered that. That is why they are opening the largest indoor terrace in the city in the monumental Gashouder in Westerpark. No problems with the cold breeze inside, just enjoy the wonderful terrace culture. Culinary snacks, cocktails, live music and a silent disco; just pretend it's high summer!
Results evening Watchparty Asva and BSKA at Café Fest | Drinks and food for free | November 22, 2023
Student union Asva and HvA student union BSKA are celebrating the party of democracy tonight at Café Fest. Here, students can, while enjoying - almost - free drinks and food, watch the results of the Lower House elections together. 'It will be fun,' says Asva president Izabella Voortman over the phone.
'It can be compared to an evening watching World Cup soccer. Only tonight we are watching the elections,' Voortman said. In between, attendees will be presented with some light-hearted dilemmas, such as: 'would you rather have no more pets or parks in Amsterdam?' And finally, when all the exit polls are in, a DJ will close the evening, 'so people can have a good time after an exciting election night.'
Fabrique des Lumieres: Destination cosmos, the immersive space experience | For students: 13 euro | 14 October 2023 to 7 January 2024
Folia previously tipped Fabrique des Lumieres as one of the ten must-see places in Amsterdam. This exhibition is perhaps the ultimate proof of that. In Destination cosmos you float through the universe. From the 'craters and fissures on Mars' to the 'rings of Saturn', 'and beyond'. Wherever you look, you see images from space, depicted on life-size columns. The images come from space agencies NASA, ESA and CNES. So have you always wanted to go on a trip to space? Here's your chance.
Amsterdam Light Festival | A walking tour with a guide: 21,50 euro | 30 November 2023 through 21 January 2024
Soon Amsterdam will finally light up again in the dark. That's because, like every winter, the artful Amsterdam Light Festival is coming to the capital again. This year, be sure to take a (canal) boat on the Amstel River to view the luminous works of art up close, or simply watch them from a distance from the quay. The UvA also participated in the previous years, last year with a cute little ladder of light on its chimney.
Cirque Mystique at the Taets Hembrugterrein | 51,50 euro | 25 November 2023 | 13:00 - 22:00
What do you get when you combine acrobats and fire-eaters with rock-hard techno? A guaranteed spectacle show. That's what Dockyard Festival promises on November 25 with the party Cirque Mystique at the Taets Hembrug site in the Western Dockyard area. With drum-code legend Layton Giordani in the line-up, it can't be anything but a top night musically either.
