During the last day of UvA's Open Campus Day, 40 pro-Palestine protesters held a sit-in. Demanding that the UvA cut their ties with Israel and speak out against the genocide in Gaza. They called on bystanders, including high school students, to join the sit-in.
On the last Open Campus Day of the UvA, a demonstration of pro-Palestine protesters took place on Roeterseiland. Fourty protesters organised a sit-in in the hall of REC-A. Under drumbeats and slogans such as “Free, Free Palestine” and “This is genocide, cut the ties”, they again called on the UvA to cut its ties with Israel and speak out against the genocide in Gaza.
The protest started with a sit-in in REC-A after which a march was initiated to De Brug, which connects REC-A with other parts of the complex. That is where the UvA’s undergraduate market takes place. The protesters continued their sit-in there and called on those present, including UvA employees and high school students, to join them.
